Dan Hartman moved disco music into a fantastic pop-stage during 1978 with his LP "Instant Replay" - with his musical past with Edgar Winter Group ("Free Ride") during the mid-70's it was a touch of pop-rock with the energy of disco music. "Countdown/This Is It" is from Dan's album "Instant Replay" and blends the excitement of falling in love and the yearning for that special heart that satisfies. It is quite a magical piece and was quite successful as the second release from the project. I have ReStructured the medley of two songs and segued them into each other even more so with a few new effects and build. Dan passed in 1994 but will always be remembered as one of disco music's pioneers and dreamers who made many hearts come alive!

Ian Levine was producing quality disco music in the 70's, then when the disco thing imploded, he picked up where Dan Hartman "Vertigo/Relight My Fire" left off and hiNRG was born. Barbara was one of his beneficiaries back in 1976. Ian is important in the history of disco/dance music going back to the early to mid 70's when obscure 60's northern soul was being sought out and played in UK clubs. Soon, there were no more "new" northern soul songs worth playing. Ian felt that the music scene could be better so he incorporated contemporary songs into his playlist, much to the disdain of the "northern soul" purists. Then there was a schism between the purists and the moderates and it was particularly bitter. Ian was attacked in his car one day. This was primarily a UK phenom, but was important because Motown ruled the dance floors with its steady beats and fully produced tracks, Motown is not "Northern Soul". Motown is Motown. Northern Soul was music made around that time that sounded Motown ish but was not affiliated in any way with Berry Gordy's company.

Candido is a Cuban-born percussionist who began working in music with Afro-Cuban and jazz acts. Eventually his talent lead him into 70's disco music and on the classic Salsoul label. His LP "Dancin' and Prancin"" from 1979 was a moment in disco history that sprinkled the magic of Candido's bongos and percussion directly where it was needed - the dance floor. It was produced by Joe Cain. "Jingo" is a single that did quite well and inspired a few remakes in the 80's. The track sounds familiar to a track that would be created on the Kebekelektrik project produced by Pat Deserio - because of the mysterious winding keyboards.
